Sun Soaked Mountain Engagement // Ellie + Dean

Sometimes the light does just what you want it to, and we had some of that action during this gorgeous sun soaked engagement sessions in the mountains of Malibu, California. I’m a big fan of choosing an engagement session location that has a variety of scenery, so that there is plenty to play with during our session, but also my couples have a lot of different looks in their galleries. While this is typically easier with urban or city settings, it can also be achieved in natural settings! For this session we actually chose two locations that were close to each other to provide that variety.

Our first stop was Paramount Ranch (known most recently for being the sets for WestWorld), which unfortunately had been almost completely destroyed by recent fires, but there was one building left standing and coincidentally it was the church. A perfect place to start for our soon-to-be newlywed couple.

From there we moved to one of my favorite spots in Malibu Creek State park. This place is known for it’s beautiful golden grasses and epic mountain views, and being relatively close to the heart of Los Angeles it’s amazing how far removed from the hustle and bustle you feel out there.

Ellie and Dean are such a joy to be around and we had an amazing time in Malibu. I cannot wait to photograph their Oceanside wedding next year!
